Ghana is a West African country which is bordered on the west by the Ivory Coast, on the north by Burkina Faso, and on the east by Togo, and on the south by the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean. 
 Ghana has a total area of 238,535 km2 (92,099 sq mi), encompassing a wide range of biomes from coastal savannas to tropical rain forests. Ghana is the second-most populated country in West Africa, after Nigeria. Accra is the country’s capital and largest city; other significant cities include Kumasi, Tamale, and Sekondi-Takoradi.

Ghana is a multicultural country with a diverse ethnic, linguistic, and religious population; while the Akan are the largest ethnic group.  The vast majority of Ghanaians (71.3 percent) are Christians, with about a fifth being Muslim and a tenth practicing traditional faiths or claiming no religion. Ghana practices a unilateral constitutional democracy with a president who serves as state and head of government.


 Ghana has had one of the most liberal and stable administrations on the continent since 1993, and it performs well in terms of healthcare, economic growth, and human development.

Population Of Ghana

Ghana has conducted five post-independent population censuses in 1960, 1970, 1984, 2000 and 2010 with the last two consisting of both a population census and a housing census making the 2021 PHC the third Population and Housing Census to be conducted in Ghana. The 2021 PHC was designed to generate statistics that are essential for policy and planning purposes.

According to the 2021 population census, Ghana has a population of 30.8 million. The population has grown almost fivefold since the first post-independence census was conducted in 1960.
